you're feet carry you everywhere and often times we just shove them in shoes and forget about them. give them reflexology and they will carry you far.

To me, Amy, reflexology works on a structural level to help open and relax the feet so you want to move more. This grounding and movement helps the body circulate nutrients and remove waste, making your body work better and you feel better. Reflexology provides layers of deep, deep relaxation and a recalibration of the nervous system making your mind clearer and your body more rested.

reflexology

96% of all illness and pain in the body is caused by stress.

There are many ways to access the healing power of your body, and reduce stress.

Reflexology is the most successful, consistent, and profound method I have found to do this.

Located in each foot are 7200 nerve endings and a map of your entire body.

Reflexology works to re-establish communication systems of the body through the nervous system.

Research has shown that when pain is chronic, nerve pathways build up deposits and stop communicating, registering as pain.

Reflexology breaks down these deposits, re-establishes communication, reduces stress and stops the pain cycle.

dealing with foot pain

Do your feet hurt, throb, ache, tingle or just generally feel out of sorts? Does a day standing or walking mean three days of recovery?

50% of all adults over the age of 30 report having sporadic or chronic foot pain. Most of us barely notice our feet until they are in pain. And when your feet hurt, your whole body hurts.

Utilizing 20 plus years of knowledge and training in reflexology and massage Amy will work with you to gain back movement and momentum. Please know it took time for your feet to get our of sorts and it will take time to get them back into alignment. Most clients report a pain reduction of 50-90% in the first session. Elimination of all symptoms can take a month to a year of weekly sessions depending on the complexity of the problem and your participation in healing.

reflexology session

Reflexology sessions are designed around the issues you would like to solve within your body, mind, and/or spirit.

Sessions are 60 or 90 minutes of focused attention to the feet and their muscles, tendons and reflexes.

If you end up snoring I take it as compliment.

history of reflexology

The practice of Reflexology may have a long history stemming from the distant past. For instance, in Egypt, in the physician’s tomb (2300 BC) there is a pictograph, which may be evidence of Reflexology being applied. In Asia, several examples also have been discovered including a statue of the Buddha’s foot depicting a map of corresponding areas of the body.

The reflexology I learned is based on the work of two American physicians, Dr. William Fitzgerald and Dr. Joe Shelby Riley in the 1920’s. Together they experimented with dividing the foot into vertical and horizontal zones and mapping the body on this grid. Eunice D. Ingham, a physiotherapist, worked closely with Dr.’s Fitzgerald and Riley and developed their knowledge into a usable therapy and reflexology map. Eunice Ingham was responsible for teaching groups of people her method of Reflexology in the late 1930’s through the early 70’s. She started a grassroots following of individuals helping others with Reflexology in the US, and you can still study her original method at the International Institute of Reflexology.

definition of reflexology

Reflexology is a scientific art based on the premise that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet, hands and ears, which correspond to all body parts. The physical act of applying specific pressures using thumb, finger and hand techniques result in stress reduction that causes a physiological change in the body.

Massage works from the outside in…

reflexology works from the inside out.

The American Reflexology Certification Board (ARCB) defines reflexology as “a non-invasive, complementary modality involving thumb and finger techniques to apply alternating pressure to reflexes shown on reflex maps of the body located on the feet, hands, and outer ears.”

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Amy for four years. Why do I go back again and again? I love the fabulous combination of heart, humor, intelligence and creativity she brings to her work and ... well, any activity. She dreams beautifully big, and it’s infectious. Consider yourself warned ... you might leave her door reacquainted with your seven-year old self that’s ready to play and won’t take no for an answer.
