Frequently Asked Questions about Reflexology
*Scroll down for FAQ’s on Tarot*
What the heck is reflexology?
Well I have a whole page on that right here. In short it is the belief that there are mini-maps of your entire body on your feet hands and ears and by applying specific touch we can access the whole body invoking healing and relaxation.
Basically we reboot your central nervous system and calm you down so you can enjoy your life again.
Why would I want a reflexology session?
Because it rocks! Because it is the most relaxing thing ever! Because it puts you into that Zen-state where miracles enter, epiphanies happen, and deep cellular healing takes place. Because your feet deserve your appreciation and some respect and love. Here is a whole list of benefits!
Do I have to get naked to get reflexology?
Nope, no clothing removal required. I am working on your feet, hands and/or ears so the only thing you need to take off are shoes and socks, hats and mittens.
If we are doing a foot pain focused session, I will also need you to be able to push your pants up above the knee.
Is Nail Polish okay?
Yes, but don’t feel the need to decorate your feet or get a pedicure before visiting me… that is completely unnecessary. Although I do love color, bring your feets however they are.
Do you do a foot soak?
Sometimes… In the space I am working it is hard to get the hot water as the sink is tiny.
We are currently looking for a new space with a kitchen and big sink so this may become a regular addition when we move. If you want one, ask and I will be happy to oblige.
What if my feet smell?
Well we can soak them, we can wash them with hot towels, or we use lots of aromatherapy to heal/de-stress you and make things smell yummy. Don’t let stinky feet prevent you from getting a treatment! Smelly feets are easy to make nice.
What if my feet are ugly?
Oi! Feets aren’t ugly and they work so hard for us that they need the love and appreciation reflexology can give them! Don’t be embarrassed, I have seem some broken down feet and never found a pair that I think are ugly, or are too messed up to work on.
Toe Nail Fungus?
Is pretty common and does not effect your reflexology session. Feel free to come in and get a treatment, in fact it might even help make it go away cause I can ramble on all day about what to do, as demonstrated here in blog posts.
What about Athlete’s foot?
Well if the athlete’s foot is all over your foot we won’t be working on you today. The only reason is we don’t want to make it mad or spread it other places. Most people only get athlete’s foot between their toes. Come in we can easily avoid that area. Here are some other suggestions.
Does reflexology hurt?
Everybody’s experience and every practitioner are different. Yes sometimes reflexology hurts. My form of reflexology is deeply nurturing, I am light to the touch and only go deep when your body allows me, making the session relaxing and healing as we never force your body to change, only open the space to allow it change.
If you are coming in for a session around foot pain, well you are already in pain so I can safely say we won’t make it any worse than it has been. Most clients feel great relief after. But there might be a bit of pain, as we kind of have to have strong conversations with your bones and muscles coaxing them back to a relaxed state.
Frequently Asked Questions about Tarot
I am scared of the tarot…
That is a very valid feeling. I’m kind of scared of it too… it just knows things and WHOA!
Here is my take on the power and usefulness of tarot and how to make it not so scary. In reality tarot is a set of cards. People used to play games with the cards. In practicality tarot is a series of stories, some decks take that further and actually tell a myth with each suite of cards.
I use tarot as a source of connection to soul. In my experience there are two things that trigger our soul towards action: story and image. Tarot contains both.
So tarot is just an un-organized fairy tale. You are the author and your question is an outline and we use the cards to get information and set intentions to make our story more fun and easy.
Is tarot evil? I heard rumors it was.
Well it depends on how much power you give the cards. Can they be used for evil-definitely but so can anything. Have they been banned-yes. Why? Because tarot cards contain symbolism and iconography that conflicted with ruling religions…simple, yet complicated.
I do not do predictive tarot for one reason and one reason only. I do not ever want to create a situation where a person feels un-empowered to interact within his or her own life. I want the tarot to be used as a tool to get you the skills you need to master your life-is that evil? You have to decide that.
Do I have to ask my question out loud?
Nope, but it helps with the telling of the cards as I can look at them with solutions in mind to your specific inquiry instead of being all general and vague.
What about bad cards?
Well when those come up we find out if they are coming or going and how we can make the process easier and transform the bad things into the compost that fertilizes our garden.
There are very few “bad” cards in my take on the tarot. All cards lead to possibility and that is not bad, complications and challenges are all a part of life, so let’s find you solutions to overcome the “bad”.
If I get the death card does it mean I am going to die?
Probably not! However it does mean that some event or pattern in your life is about to be transformed. The Death card can mean transition, death of ego, ending of an event, era, relationship, or pattern.
I LOVE the death card-it is why I chose the phoenix as my logo. In the myth of phoenix the creature is born from ashes, lives it’s life, bursts into flame and then is reborn. We do this all the time in our lives and the death card reminds us of these transitions.
Can I read the cards for myself?
Yes! If you want help I offer classes periodically and I have an e-book coming out soon. There are also really great books that I will soon get onto a resource page for you. Email me if you want more information.
