Amy in the World

see me on yelp!

Hi! I am Amy, it is really lovely to have you here on my website! Join me for a coconut! (this picture was taken on Copacabana beach-sing with me ‘her name was Lola…’ )

Who am I?

mystic, healer,  idea generator, translator to the faeries, stripy sock wearer, wanderer of places, frequent user of the library across the street and one of those dances in the street type people.

When we first meet I am super shy. It’s just the way I am… I might even act sort of awkward and say dumb stuff. (Especially if you ask me what I do for a living.)

But after that weeee! There has been known to be actual squeeing and dancing in circles and much hand flailing and hugging-but only if that’s all ok with you. I can also be very serious *nods*.

The Mission.

It’s a secret mission but here’s what I know so far…

Throughout life on planet Earth, we have been collecting words and stories. Some have them have helped us grow and many of them have held us back. I want you (and me) to start to see those stories; to unwind them, to dance with them, to throw some away, to transform them. I want you to step into the role of author of your life. To write yourself a new path.

I want people to see the magic contained in every breath. To find joy in small things like stripy socks and dancing across the street and the perfect sandwich. Fill your day with magic. This just sort of starts to happen when you hang around me

Permission; me first, then everyone else. If you are depleted you cannot function to the best of your ability and save the world. People come here to fill up, to relax, to get re-connected, to find dreams and purpose and super powers and most of all to be told YES it is perfect wonderful to choose yourself first, so that you can better take care of everyone else.

“I’ve known Amy for many years. I’ve watched her grow into an incredibly caring and talented healer. Her intuitive capability, her open heart, and her willingness to really listen, mark her as a wonderful aide and guide on life’s journey. i would thoroughly recommend her to anyone.”   ~lea

Why Barefoot Phoenix?

Barefoot Phoenix-transformation without shoes… it’s the only way to play.

But here’s the behind the scenes version.

I studied art in college and spent a lot of time in Chinese mythology and art and I sorta fell head over heel in love with Dragons. A few years later I found the Harry Potter books and fell in love with a phoenix named Fawkes whose tears had healing power. I was in the middle of a shamanic intensive at that time, doing much of my own tear shedding, and the idea that tears could have healing magic was powerful.

When trying to figure out an identity for my business I came back to the dragon, but it didn’t feel right. Then I read something (probably on a Chinese menu) about how the phoenix is the yin or feminine of the dragon. *ping*  Also I had an obsession with peacocks (shiny! bird is shiny!) and the peacock is said to be a phoenix manifested on earth. *ping 2* The bonus *ping* peacocks are associated with feet which is what I was studying at the time (reflexology) and thus phoenix bodywork was born-which later transformed into Barefoot Phoenix.

So what do I do for a living?

well look around the website and then send me an email and tell me, because trying to sum it all up into a nice, tidy elevator speech … yuck. I’ve tried but it all sounds like yuck.
(elevator speech=word vomit)

We do stuff and you feel better and we laugh a lot and maybe we also drink tea.

p.s. I talk to faeries-when someone asks what I do for a living I really want this to be my #1 answer-just to see their expression.
